  1. What is the difference between a cup and a trophy?

We sometimes get asked the question "What is the difference between a cup and a trophy?".  The short answer is a cup is a KIND of trophy, just like an apple is a kind of fruit, but read more to get the full scoop.

Loving Cup Trophy This traditional Loving Cup Trophy contains a figure top, the golden cup, and then a walnut base with a black brass engraved plate.

The definition of a trophy is: "A cup or other decorative object awarded as a prize for a victory or success".

Trophies are made of two pieces - a top (called a trophy "figure") and a bottom (called a "base").  All trophies have a figure top, which can be a variety of shapes, colors and styles including a cup, a star, a person (such as an Oscar trophy) a sports figure, etc.  To answer the question, a chalice cup can definitely be a figure top, but it doesn't have to be.

The base of the trophy contains the engraved text, including the name of the award, event name, winners name, for example.

There are many different types of trophies, the only limit is imagination!  But Cup Trophies are a classic style that never goes out of fashion and endures the test of time.  Discover our many trophies at our website, including Chalice Cup Trophies!

    Cheers!

  3. 5 Tips for Choosing The Perfect Corporate Award

This week is the kick-off of Corporate Awards season!  All of Trophies2Go's past Corporate Awards Customers received this email yesterday.  Read below to narrow your search for the perfect award for any occasion!

Seattle Business Seattle Business Awards always does an amazing job of recognizing outstanding businesses!

    1. Start With Your Budget.

Determine how much you want to spend per award. We have beautiful awards in every price range, so even if your budget is small, we’ll create something special for you. Read Budgeting for a Recognition Program for more ideas.

    2. Fit the Accomplishment.

Present a premium crystal award to someone who has gone above and beyond, not for menial tasks. Conversely, if a dedicated employee is celebrating a milestone goal, big anniversary or retirement, a $10 gift card doesn’t cut it. Make sure to match the award stature to the achievement.

    3. What's the Message?

Choose an award that can fit all of your text and logo. An engraved plaque has space for a long message and logo, whereas a 4 inch crystal cube doesn’t. Know what you want to engrave before ordering your award to ensure enough room for your message.

    4. Form Follows Function.

Consider how the award will be displayed. Will the award stand on a desk, be hung on a wall, be displayed on a lobby shelf, or be featured in a home?

For example, if a sales award will be hung in the lobby, then an engraved plaque may be a good choice. If the award will be displayed in a home, something more functional and pretty, such as an engraved clock or personalized vase, is appropriate.

    5. Personalize the Award.

If your organization is more conservative, stick with a traditional award. But if you’re in a creative business, choose something a little more artistic or funky! For an individual award, consider the recipient’s personality and get an award to match it. Be creative and think out of the box, not only with your award, but also your engraved message!

  4. Corporate Gift Guide

    Personalize A Gift To Remember!

Holiday shopping has begun and it's time to think about what to get your clients, vendors, and your staff to thank them for their service to your company over the past year.

The important thing is to tailor your gifts to your recipient.  The more personal in nature you can make them the better.

    Clients

Your customers are the reason you're in business, you want to thank them for their patronage over the past year.  For a smaller client, a holiday card and small gift might be enough.  But for a key client, you want to appreciate them with something special, below are some ideas.

    1. Edible gifts - it can be something like a fruit basket, box of special candies or even steaks.
    2. Special dinner - either treat your client to a dinner out or a gift card to your client's favorite restaurant.
    3. Wine Boxes: include a favorite bottle of wine and place it in a personalized wine box with your logo on the top.  A perfect way to present a special gift to remember.
    4. Cooking Tools:  For a more casual office, engrave a BBQ tool set for their use all season long.  Also engraved cutting boards make popular and functional gifts.

    Vendors

Without key vendor relationships, your business would not run smoothly and efficiently.  Thank them for helping you grow your sales with a custom gift.

    1. Polar Camel Cups - These cute and affordable personalized tumblers are a very practical gift, engrave their name or company on the side to make it personal.  Treat them to a coffee card inside as well.
    2. Business Card Holder - with their name and logo, they will think of you daily!
    3. Engraved Coaster Set - another tool they can use on their desk to remember your relationship.

    Staff

Treat your employees to a party and gifts to show your appreciation.  Without your staff, you would not be able to do what you do!

    2. Beer Gifts:  I just had a customer order 48 engraved pint glasses for her team of guys with the company logo etched on the glasses.  I told her to add craft beer with the glasses for a gift they will love!
    3. Wine Gifts In the same genre as the beer, monogrammed wine glasses make fantastic gifts for your staff.  Include a nice bottle of wine for another lovely gift that will be enjoyed for many nights to come!
    4. Games:  For the office jokester, consider a fun personalized game.  The mini corn hole game can be a great break in the office and we also offer personalized poker sets.
