  1. 2013 Fall Award Trends

With summer winding down, fall is in the air.  What are the new trends for this fall?  Just like with fashion, Trophies and Awards have fresh styles for the season change. Our awards experts have rounded up the top must-have award trends for Fall 2013.

    Trend #1: Gray

Acrylathin Gray This new gray plaque is right on trend!

In fashion this fall, it's all about gray as the new neutral.  Lucky for us,  awards look great in gray too!   One new gray product I love is our new Acrylathin plaque.  What is awesome about this plaque is that the logo or other graphic can be cut through the material, so the silver background shows through.  Looks hot!

Bronze custom medal Two trends in one - bronze 'rose colored gold' medal with a custom insert!

    Trend #2: Rose Colored Gold

One of the hottest color trends for fall is rose.  No longer just for spring, rose is showing up in surprising places, including jewelry.  We are following this trend with new bronze awards, including metals, trophies and other 'rose colored gold' items.

    Trend #3:  Custom, Custom, Custom

A huge trend in awards right now is creating your own design, unique to your organization.  Custom awards are big, and we love making them!  We have a process called Logocut, where we create full-color acrylic awards out of any logo.  We also create one-of-a-kind inserts for metals.  These allow our customers to create unique awards tailored specifically to their event.  So cool!

    Trend #4: Designer Pieces

Just like in fashion, we offer premium designer awards on our website and in our showroom.  CIP, Nik Meller, Chien Wang of Toujours are 3 of the designer crystal award lines we carry.  These superior crafted awards feature unique and stunning designs that are pieces of art, worthy of display.

Mix things up with your awards this fall by picking a trendy piece! Just like with your wardrobe, adding just one new item can really jazz up your awards program!

    Cheers,
    Jessica

  2. Corporate Awards That Will Make You Look Good

Airflyte Recognition Awards from Tropar Mfg. Co.

When ordering a corporate recognition award, you want it to impress.  The award you choose needs to be great quality, with a beautiful design, at an affordable price.  And most important, you need to have it in time for your awards ceremony!

We are able to take the stress out of ordering corporate awards because we have a great corporate awards supplier - Tropar Mfg. Co.  They carry the Airflyte brand of plaques, clocks, desk sets, and other awards.  What sets their products apart is the quality - they always have beautiful products at a good value.  They usually have most items in stock, which enables us to get your awards to you quickly.

The other reason we like working with Tropar is the staff - they are just really nice people.  Kathy, our sales rep, goes above and beyond to take care of us and our customers.  They are also a very generous company, investing heavily in the Awards and Recognition Industry Education Foundation (ARIEF).  So far, two children of Trophies2Go staff have received college scholarships from ARIEF, and we are extremely grateful for Tropar's involvement in the foundation.

We thank Tropar for being a fantastic awards supplier!

    Cheers, Jessica

  4. Make a Statement with Designer Crystal Awards

Nik Meller Interview Check out our video interview with Nik Meller

Imagery.  That's the inspiration for Nik Meller's line of designer Crystal Awards.  Whether the deep blue waters of the ocean, the clear blue sky above the Alps, a bee's honeycomb, or a spider's intricate web, Nik uses nature's architecture as the foundation of his designs. An international furniture designer and artist, Nik has lived around the world and uses his experience to inspire his creativity.  His work is infused with artisty that comes from a global perspective yet appreciation for the world's beauty.

Fashion.  That's the inspiration for Chien J. Wang's collection.  Chien's story begins in Taipei, Taiwan, where his father worked for a textile mill.  Young Chien saw all of the latest fashions before they went to market, and he dreamed of one day becoming  a fashion designer.

After immigrating to the US at 11 years old, Chien worked hard , studied business at USC, and opened his first awards company at age 22.  Not until age 40 did he begin designing crystal awards.  The market had gone stale and lacked originality.  Using his fashion design aesthetic, he began creating awards that elicit an emotional connection; you either love them or not.  His designs appeal to a more sophisticated customer, interested in awards that make a design statement.

See Chien's Collection of fashion forward designs here.

We are proud to offer such beautiful and artistic awards to our customers!

    Cheers,
    Jessica

  5. Budgeting for a Recognition Program?

We are members of a great organization called Recognition Professionals International. I recently read these FAQs on their site regarding budgeting for a recognition program.  I think you’ll find them helpful.

     Q. What is an average budget for a Recognition Program?

What is the goal of your Recognition Program? What is the goal of your Recognition Program?

This varies by company.  I would recommend benchmarking what other companies in your industry or other companies of your size are doing. Any award program vendor should be able to provide benchmarking data like this.
    Greg Boswell, O.C. Tanner, Inc.

This varies on what each company is establishing as its ultimate goal of the recognition program, the size of the company and its demographics, that is the beauty of recognition it can start small and grow with time and measurements of success!
    Sandie Hodel, United Airlines, Inc

Very hard to answer. Ours is approx. $100 per person per year, but this includes funds for an annual recognition conference that only 500 attend each year.
Steve Richardson, Royal Bank of Canada

According to the benchmarking research I've seen, this figure can vary wildly. Some companies invest up to 2% of their payroll, others feel that .05 of 1% is sufficient. Some invest very little. One of the goals of RPI is to help establish some guidelines or standards but that data will have to be gathered over a period of time. A confidential format for sharing this information may make it easier to obtain.
    Dee Hansford, Dee Hansford Consulting

    Q. What factor is the basis for most Recognition Program budgets?

It really depends on your program objectives. Once again, consider what you'd like the program to accomplish and then work towards that goal.
    Greg Boswell, O.C. Tanner, Inc.

    Per capita.
Steve Richardson, Royal Bank of Canada

Smart companies are investing in recognition that drives performance and behaviors that further the mission and goals of the organization. Consequently, they are seeing bottom line results. I can tell you that while at Disney during the 25th Anniversary celebration, we saw a 15% increase in the Cast's satisfaction with day-to-day recognition by their immediate supervisors; an overall improvement of 32.6%. We saw correlating Guest satisfaction scores that were very high and showed a strong intent to return, which directly impacted the bottom line. After working with CalPERS for two years, we have seen their recognition scores improve 19%; productivity is increasing, as are customer satisfaction scores.
