  1. My All-Time Favorite Trophies

I recently went out to dinner with my mom's group and we were discussing my blog.  My good friend Khanh reads it often and she complimented me on my posts (thanks Khanh!).  The topic of "my favorite trophies of all time" came up during the discussion, and we all had a good laugh over #7 (see below).  Khanh suggested I write a post about it.

This conversation got me thinking about all the wonderful awards we create for many, many people.  Some trophies are really funny, some are touching, some are inspiring, some are sad.  But what is great about the work we do is that behind every award we make, is a story.  I'd like to share a few of my favorites with you.

    My All-Time Favorite Trophies

Pulse Awards Custom Acrylic awards for the Pulse Awards in Hawaii.

    1.  Coolest Trophy - We recently made custom "Logocut" awards for the Honolulu Pulse Awards.  They recognized the best of Hawaii's scene and were the hippest awards around!

    2.  Cutest Trophy - That's a tie; I have two favorites.  My first pick is  the "Flying Wiener" at the Kent and Allen Star 101.5 Wiener dog races. The epic super-sized post trophy and little doggie sized medals go to the fastest dachshund at the race.

My second pick is our own Honey Badger Trophy.  Exclusive to Trophies2Go, you won't find this nasty critter anywhere else!

This beautiful plaque was a treasured gift to wife Annie! This beautiful plaque was a treasured gift to wife Annie!

    3.  Most Touching - A longtime customer Dag created a beautiful plaque for his loving wife Annie celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and Annie's 90th birthday.  It brought tears to my eyes when I read it.  What a touching gift!

CJs_mom 2 This lasting tribute to a special mom, Cynthia Stanford. We were honored to create a small plate in her memory.

    4.  Saddest Trophy - We create many memorial plates and engraved urns for people who have passed away.  It's always heartbreaking to serve customers in grief, but I'm glad that we can help in a small way to remember those who are no longer with us.  For example, these brothers CJ and Beau created a beautiful tribute to their mother, Cynthia Stanford, in a special place she frequented.  Having lost both of my parents, I understand the emotion around this, and it's an honor to do this kind of work.

    5.  Best Name - Customer Dale created "King O The Kitchen" (aka KOK) for his annual cooking contest - read about it here.  I loved the name so much I renamed the our resin chef after his event!

Our achievement trophy in People Magazine! Our achievement trophy in People Magazine!

    6.  Most Famous Trophy - Last February our Male Achievement Trophy was featured in "Oscar Party Picks" in People Magazine!  What a thrill!

    7.  My All-Time Favorite Trophy:  Sorry I don't have a picture, as this is from many years ago, I think even before we had our girls.  There was an Oscar Male Achievement Trophy that came through our production with engraving "Best Boss in Bed - 2nd Place".  Think about it.

Our customers are so creative and it's a real pleasure to help with a small part of the story of awards.  We are here for the life's biggest achievements and milestones and it's an honor!

If you have a story about the award you've received from us, I'd love to hear it and share it with our community.  Feel free to post it on our Facebook Page, Twitter, or Instagram.  Use  #Trophies2Go on your post.  Or email it to me directly at [email protected].  Send me pictures of your awards too - a picture is worth 1000 words - and your trophy could be in my next favorites list!

    Cheers,
    Jessica

An engraved base is a great start to creating an unique award. We offer a few different options, including black, walnut or marble, in a variety of sizes. Engraving on the front is included in the price; add side plates for an additional fee to make it perpetual. If you are gluing something onto the top of a base, we have epoxy glue packets available for customers. Just give us a call to include one with your order.  Read below to see what other customers have created using an engraved base.

Bases are a great way to create a one-of-a-kind trophy. Just glue or attach any top.

Option #1:  Any figure top or resin award we carry can be attached to a base.  For example, one school created reading awards by attaching a tiger resin trophy, the school mascot, to an engraved base.  These turned out so cute, and I'm sure the winners loved them!

Option #2:  Add your own top to a base to create a completely unique award. This customer has a dog club and wanted an award for her rat hunting event. We engraved this walnut base and she added the rat top, creating a completely custom and unique award for her club.  I guarantee you won't see this award anywhere!

Rat_trophy We created the base and our customer attached the rat on the top.

  3. Customer Story - #1 Female Football Player

Sarely's award Sarely's award for years of contribution to her team.

Sometimes customers send us inspirational stories that I just want to share with everyone!

Read about this awesome young football player, Sarely, who was recently honored for her contribution to her youth football league.

Thank you customer Guadalupe V. for sharing this story with us!

    Read Sarely's Story:

football_twinsSarely Cheer She may be a cheerleader, but her heart is 100% football player!

"There are boy and girl twins, now 11 years old, living in Cd. Acuna, Mexico near the border with Del Rio, Texas."

"In 2009, the boy started playing football when he six.  The next season, in 2010, there were not enough kids to complete the minimum player requirement to participate in the football league.  We decided to ask the little girl, Sarely, if she wanted to play football with her brother until more kids participated, and she said yes."

"That year she became an official defensive/offensive tackle.  Even when little Sarely wore a cheerleader uniform, she wanted 100% to be a football player!   The “Vaqueros” team became the 2010 season Champions, and won again in 2013."

"As of today, after four final and two championship seasons, Sarely is playing her last season on the team, still as an offensive and defensive tackle.  She literally takes down quarterbacks!  She is respected and loved by the league because of her job on the field."

"The recognition is because Sarely is strong and sweet at the same time.  She is an exceptional player and this is a goodbye present to this great player.  She is #1!"

Read her full story in the local newspaper (in Spanish) here!

She may be the only girl, but she's one of the best! She may be the only girl, but that doesn't stop her from being the best!

I love this story because it shows that Sarely is not only Player #1 on the field, as her jersey says, but also #1 in the hearts of the team and the community!

Wow what an inspiration this young lady is and I wish her nothing but the best in her bright future!  I'm proud that we can play a small part in this inspirational story!

    Cheers,
    Jessica

  4. Custom Awards for the Cody Project

We love what we do and it's wonderful when our work makes a difference. Here's the story of the Cody Project and the custom awards we created for their recent golf tournament. With custom awards, you can create a truly unique trophy specific to your organization.

    The Cody Project

Cody Project LogoThe Cody Project is a wonderful tribute to a little baby boy who's life ended much too soon. His loving family keeps his memory alive through the Cody Project, a non-profit organization that supports children's charities, including the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation. The Cody Project is personal—it originates with the inspiration of one family and is maintained with family and friends. Many of the people associated with the project, including some board members, work uncompensated for their efforts. This ensures that donations support children and families.

    Memorial Golf Tournament

Awards for the Cody Project 2014 Golf Tournament. Awards for the Cody Project 2014 Golf Tournament.

Russ Foster, founder of the Cody Project, recently came to us with a request for custom awards for a memorial golf tournament, which is also a fundraiser for the charity. He wanted the Cody Project logo be featured on the awards. Our president Jeff worked with Russ on the design, and together they created custom acrylic awards featuring the Cody Project logo. With graduated sizes for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and other categories for tournament winners, these custom awards were the perfect way to acknowledge players at the tournament. What makes a custom award a winner for an organization? By having the logo incorporated into the award, every time the recipient looks at it, they are reminded of the organization. Many times an award recipient is a donor to the organization; the charity says top of mind, reminding the award winner to give, adding to the longevity of the award.

    The Outcome?

    The winners! The winners!

With 129 participants attending the event, Russ's tournament was able to raise $10,000. Proceeds from the tournament will support charities including the NICU at Swedish Hospital and Provail, along with the Cody Project Endowment. It’s great that we can help wonderful organizations and charities, such as the Cody Project, raise funds to continue their work. Thank you Russ for sharing your story with us!

    Cheers, Jessica

  5. King O' The Kitchen

We love how our customers really get into their events.  We see it all the time with fantasy football, chili cook-offs, and other parties.  It's amazing how creative people can get with the awards, building hype around their competition.

KOK. Check out the awesome sword...don't mess with that trophy KOK. Check out the awesome sword...don't mess with that trophy

Today I'd like to feature customer Dale McMillan, who hosts the Golden King O' The Kitchen (KOK) event each year.  Our resin chef trophy has become the mascot of his event, even featured in the invitations.  If you read Dale's story below, you'll see why we renamed the trophy the 'King O' The Kitchen'!

    King O' The Kitchen

    From customer Dale McMillan:
"Trophies2Go actually has a large part in the now yearly event, as the first place trophy has become known as the Golden KOK (King O'The Kitchen) which is hilarious funny. This year's Golden KOK event is July 19th."

"This year as a twist it is "Chef's choice" meaning that mystery ingredients and themes are submitted by the chefs themselves rather than myself.  Everyone that attends votes for their favorite dish."

    Dale_cooking_awards

"Oh by the way, you may notice the head missing from the second place trophy in the picture, that was because Martin was so happy to win he raised his arm in triumph and whacked the trophy on the roof and snapped it off!! Hilarious! I was going to complain to you that the necks are not strong enough to survive blunt force trauma!!!"

"You would not believe the fun!  Fierce competition!"

Thank you Dale for sharing your story with us!  Wishing you a fun and tasty event in a few weeks!

If you would like to share the story of  your award with us, email me at [email protected].  I'll post pictures on our Facebook page and maybe even write a blog about it.   We love hearing about how our awards make a positive impact in the lives of our customers!

    Jessica
